Who are we

A multidisciplinary, high professional profile team capable of generating a strategic vision of the IED group by means of the development of content and innovation projects.

The IED Scientific Committee works in collaboration with experts in order to develop specific knowledge to configure a vision board with the indications needed to face the present and future challenges of the institution.

Luca de Biase

Economist

With a degree in Economics from the Università Bocconi in Milan, he was educated as a historian at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris, and carried out his first research projects at the Archivio di Stato in Venice. During his activity as a journalist he has worked in the fields of technological, social and economic innovation. He was both founder and director of the digital newspaper La Vita Nòva, which has received numerous international awards.

Marco Zanini

Designer

Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Florence, in 1977 he started working at the Ettore Sottsass studio in Milan. In 1980 he was one of the founders of Sottsass Associati where he remained as a senior partner until 2002, working all around the world on hundreds of projects with architecture and design consultancies. In 1981 he was one of the founders of Memphis. From 2002 to 2007 he directed the Liquid Jungle Lab project in Panama.

Francisco Jarauta

Philosopher

Professor of Philosophy at the University of Murcia, he studied History, History of Art and Philosophy at the Universities of Valencia, Rome, Münster.Westf, Berlin and Paris. Visiting professor of various European and American universities, his work focuses on the fields of the history of ideas, the philosophy of culture, aesthetics and the theory of art.

Pablo Jarauta, Coordinator of the IED Scientific Committee

With a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Murcia, he has worked in the fields of utopian thinking, the history of cartography and design sociology. He has been a professor at Duke University, the University of Extremadura and the IED Madrid. From 2014 to 2016 he was Director of Education and Learning at IED Madrid.
